I was having a blast with Bayonetta yesterday. Put in a couple of hours to really get into the intricacies for the combat. Then, right at the peak of excitement, I put it down. Very strange, but I find myself doing this with games. Rather than pushing through for hours till I hit a part I just can’t beat or get absolutely frustrated with, I just leave it on a high. A high I admit that I still feel at this moment. Now, my reasoning with this is that on this gaming high I’d feel motivated to come back. Or maybe I’m afraid to go to that point where I do get frustrated and move onto something else. Very strange indeed. I used to power through games without a second thought.

I guess that’s a mechanism I’ve developed to handle playing so many games in a short period of time. Unfortunately, I mentioned the Backlog I’ve amassed for myself has tripled last year, a good deal in part to Steam deals. If I were a game shrink I’d probably diagnose it as game apathy. But I’m not apathetic, I still get the gaming high. As a precaution to have this further itself, I’ve limited myself to 3 games over Q1 of 2010. Mass Effect 2, God of War 3, and Battlefield Bad Company 2. Anything else will just have to wait till Black Friday. And I know it really wouldn’t have worked out between me and Final Fantasy XIII. I still have XII sitting around here (and X-2 for that matter :-/).

On the to do list I have quite a few games. Borderlands for one. I’ve only managed to sink 25hrs or so into it in 4 months. Fail. My friend beat it twice in a week! Good lord. I don’t even know if he ate anything for that week.
