Metroid: The Other M set to release this summer

It would seem that Nintendo has heard the collective prayers of Wii owners everywhere. No injustice goes unpaid, especially when there’s money to be made. Two of our most anticipated Wii titles of 2010 are looking to release sooner than you might think if the Mario-makers have their way.  Nintendo Australia made a pretty massive announcement today as far as Wii releases go. It slated two of their heavy hitters Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: The Other M for the summer launch lineup.

Not to make it seem that one’s eyes and ears were deceiving them,  marketing director for Nintendo Australia Greg Authurton further cemented the company’s plans to deliver the two exciting titles before another layer of dust could cake the vast Wii market share. The two titles are slated for release between June and August. For any other platform I would say releasing two of the biggest games ever bear its logo within even four months of each other would be suicide. But given Nintendo’s 67 million Wii console install base, even if they only sell one copy of each to a tenth of their fans, they’re doing a good job.

What’s more, since this is coming from Nintendo Australia’s authority we might even see them sooner. Wishful thinking, but you couldn’t even count the times Australia has gotten a title first and at a fair price on one finger. Not to mention their terrible ratings fiasco. Still, a non-Fall release date for two of the most anticipated games of the year makes every console owner sigh a bit in relief. Spread them out publishers. Let our wallets breathe before you punish them again.
