Apart from EA Sports Active, I’ve barely touched my Wii of late. I couldn’t bring myself to finish Galaxy & Wii Sports Resort I’ve only played with friends. I’ve heard great things about the Wii Motion Plus Tiger Woods & EA’s Tennis game but again it’s not something I’d play at home. New Super Mario Bros Wii looks great but I’m guessing it won’t have online co-op? Visit my site @ Cheap Wii Games

Okay, so since I play Wii the most, I decided to make up a short and sweet list of a few titles I think every Nintendo fan needs to have in their collection this year. Sure we are all looking forward to Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M, but since those are 2010 releases, I’ll save them for later. Looking at this list, there is not a whole lot there, but I have always thought, “quality over quantity.” It’s sad that Nintendo doesn’t always think that same thing with all the shovelware crap they let flood their system, but oh well, I’m not bitter or anything…*punches wall*. Anyways, the few select titles I have chosen really seem to stick out and look like games that will not only give you lots of bang for your buck, but also games you will probably go back to again and again.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii – What would a “must-buy” list be without a Mario title? Well, New Super Mario Bros. Wii is building on that popular formula that made the DS game such a best seller. It is keeping a perfect blend of old and new gameplay to feed the nostalgia in all of us, while also adding a 4-Player co-op mode. I was a bit skeptical about the multiplayer at first, but then I remember feeling the same way about Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure and ended up loving that game. When this was shown at E3, me and Phaethon had some doubts; we actually thought it was going to be a WiiWare title. Hearing it was a full retail game for $50 really turned me off initially, but I am a sucker for nostalgia, so this will be a day one purchase.

Metroid Prime Trilogy – This is basically “The Orange Box” of the Wii. We get all three of the Metroid Prime games with the motion controls for $50 bucks. This is a great deal, because I am saddened to say I never finished the first two, so now I have that chance. I already have it pre-ordered, and it comes out at the end of August, so buy it now and catch up on the series before Metroid: Other M comes out. This is by far probably my favorite game coming out in the final half of this year. I originally thought that Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes would both be sold seperatly as New Play Control titles. I was really shocked to see all three games on one disc for $50, since I expected to pay about $60 just for both of the original NPC games. I guess what I am saying, is if you only buy one Wii game in the next few months, make it this one. I think this collection is ideal for people who weren’t into games last generation and missed these titles on the Gamecube. Now there really is no excuse to not get sucked into the world of Samus Aran.

A Boy and His Blob – Back in the NES day, this game came out and was just a 2-D platformer where you fed your blob various jellybeans that would in turn morph him into items that would help you on your quest. The fun part of the game is knowing when to use what jellybeans since each one turns the Blob into something different; and just be careful you don’t waste your beans. This was a game I remember coming out, but never having a chance to play it since I was a broke, little ankle-biter. Anyways, this sequel is looking beautiful with what looks to be hand-drawn animations that seem to just pop off the screen with character. I am really hoping that Nintendo releases the original on VC around the time this sequel is released…I mean, why wouldn’t they? The release is slated for October, and the game is going to go for $40, so at least we get a bit of a price-cut right off the bat. This may not be the title you have to run out and purchase immediately, but I think it should be on every Wii owner’s radar.
