The continuation of our Top 5 Netflix posts

With the price of many TV seasons being about $40 you must ask, “How many times will I really watch this?” Once every few years? Is it worth the price of admission? Many movie rentals (including Netflix) only send one disc at a time, and even still it’s a pain in the ass to have to get up and switch out discs every few episodes. Luckily for you, Netflix offers full seasons of some top notch Television series as a part of their Instant Watch program. No changing discs, no awaiting by the mailbox for episodes 12-15, no worrying about scratches keeping you from finding out who shot J.R.

Let's get this part started! ... I'll stop.

Party Down

Veronica Mars creator, Rob Thomas, and all around awesome person, Paul Rudd, teamed up to create Party Down. The show follows six caterers in Hollywood, all of varying levels of failure. It premiered on Starz earlier this year, but if you missed it Netflix has you covered. Party Down is outlandishly funny and features some of the most interesting characters on a sitcom in years. The show took a hit when the hysterical Jane Lynch left the series with two episodes left of the ten episode season still unproduced. Despite this, Party Down is still a must watch.

30 Rock has replaced Scrubs as the go-to off-the-wall sitcom.

30 Rock

30 Rock was just nominated for a record breaking 22 Emmy nominations for its third season. The first two Emmy winning seasons are on Netflix now. Not surprisingly, the show was just as good then as it is now. How could it not be? Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jack McBrayer, and Tracy Morgan are hilarious, and they are surrounded by a colorful supporting cast. The show often showcases some big name guest stars including Jerry Seinfeld, Conan O’Brian, Will Arnett, and even Al Gore. Zany, wacky, and always funny, 30 Rock never disappoints.

Ira Glass and crew bring the magic of the radio series to the silver screen.

This American Life

This American Life is the number one podcast for a reason. The radio show is always entertaining and can go from making you cry from laughter to making you cry from gut wrenching sadness in as little as a commercial break. The team brought the same caliber story telling to Showtime for two amazing seasons, both of which are on Netflix. Any fan of the radio series won’t be disappointed, and if you aren’t a fan, what are you waiting for?

The 60s were crazy.

The Twilight Zone

There have been more than a few horror anthologies over the years, but it’s hard to beat The Twilight Zone. The show features some of the most memorable stories told on television. Not only do they still hold up after all these years, but I would suggest they are even better now as we can appreciate the classiness of black and white television.

Dexter

Now is as good a time as ever to get to know America’s favorite serial killer. Showtime’s Emmy winning series continues to impress. The show follows Dexter, played by the amazing Michael C. Hall, who is a forensic expert by day and a psychopathic killer by night. While some say the first season gets off to a slow start, things pick up in season two. Dexter may not be for the faint at heart, but it’s still one of the best dramas available on Netflix.

It’s hard to pass up Netflix. The amount of content provided for $8 a month is a clear winner when compared to the price of a movie ticket these days. If you set it up on your TV, it will make watching these series a breeze.
